Can I Trust AI to Identify Tank Lids?

As of today, 7/26/2026, we've been seeing some orders come through for items that have had to be returned and exchanged for the correct item, that were originally identified by an AI program. Programs like Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and more are getting good at doing general internet searches for technical data, and are also good at graphic manipulation, but are not good at knowing which toilet tank lid you need. We have customers that are searching on their favorite AI tool and providing photos and maybe even part numbers from inside the tank or underneath the lid. The AI chatbot will gladly and confidently tell you which tank lid to order. Unfortunately, that confidence is just built into the way it communicates, so much so that you trust that it is actually correct when it is not.

Unfortunately if an AI tool incorrectly identifies your tank lid, you will need to pay the shipping charges to return it for a refund or an exchange. This is costly and time consuming. Taking the time to send us a photo or two of your tank or tank lid and maybe some additional information like the outside measurements of your tank or any markings that look like a part number (not a barcode) will likely enable us to successfully identify the correct tank lid.
