Why is my tank lid stamped 191-697? Eljer applied for and received a patent for their toilet design, and uses the number 191-697 to mark this toilet with the patent. However, they did a poor job with consistantly and sometimes the lid is marked 5540, sometimes 191-697, sometimes Pat. 191697, sometimes neither, sometimes both.
