Texting a Toilet Tank Lid Photo for Identification

Many times manufacture markings on toilets are hard to read, not useful, or missing completely. How do you determine which toilet tank or toilet tank lid you need? We can determine it for you in a very short time and let you know if it is an item we have in stock.

Identifying Toilet Tank Lids

Send a photo of both the top and underside of the broken lid. Make sure that the entire toilet tank top is in the photo. The edges and corners are usually the best clues to see the shape of the lid. If the lid is shattered into pieces, if one of the pieces makes up at least half of the lid we can usually identify it from just that. If the lid is completely missing, we can still help. Send a photo of the top of the tank. Make sure you are standing directly above the tank. Do not stand in front of the toilet and take the photo at an angle because it will distort the shape and make it hard to determine which lid you need. You may need to stand on the toilet seat to get the entire top of the tank in the photo. DO NOT put a tape measure on the tank lid or the tank to show the dimensions. Often the difference between two lids is 1/4" to 1/2" and the slight angle you take the photo at will make it impossible to read the tape measure correctly. Include the maximum dimensions separately in a text. Always measure the lid on the underside at its maximum left to right and maximum front to back. Use the same maximum dimensions for a toilet tank if you are providing a photo of the tank. Also include the toilet brand if you know it. Please do not send more than 2 photos as we get a lot of texts throughout the day. If you send the ones we are requesting it will be sufficient to identify the toilet tank lid. Most texts are answered in minutes, but sometimes depending on when you send it may take up to 24 hours to reply. Please do not call immediately after sending the text to see if we received it. We will respond to every text within 24 hours.

Identifying Toilet Tanks

It is usually easier for us to identify which toilet tank you need by a photo of the toilet tank lid rather than a photo of the tank. Send a photo of both the top and underside of the broken lid. Ocassionally we get requests to identify a tank when someone only has a bowl. We cannot identify tanks or lids for your toilet just from a bowl photo. You will need to work with a local plumber to come up with a solution if you do not have a tank or a lid.
